Focus On Progress...


What Went On Last Month?
For the most part, adding new members to the tree! Just a few Leazott's brings many others!
As each spouse is determined, their heredity must the be attached to the tree as well!

Some minor IT progress toward making the secondary computer systems ability to help was made.
Neatness counts! Permanent external peripherals are not work condusive and lead to clumsiness!

Creating a workable schedule and monthly timeline for goals and objectives is still in its infancy stage.
It appears as though in time, this may actually be a great help toward efficiency and direction!

The overall longterm plan for the website is starting to take direction. Here's a quick synopsis.
Reality has a way of creeping up on dreams. Though more is always welcome, manhours rule the day.

Sidetracked... Admittedly the fun of new member discovery's (9000+ Now!) over-rode the work plan!
Even webmasters need a little time in the zone as well! Research now qualifies as "goof-off time"!


What's Planned For This Month?
Essentially the same plan is still bing implemented with IT/Computer and treework at the forefront.
The $24 computer is now online and being readied for end-of-summer use as a "downloader".

The folders created for CD info are ready to receive file lists for making quick folder determinations.
Approximately 20,000 census folders are currently ready for the next phase of preparation.

More "Founding Documents" work.... The Constitution Ammendment images and their hover links.
There are many other important documents shaping our history that may be added later.

Website work of making each descriptor link to its CD ordering page is now being scheduled to start!
Together with the "Census CD Balloon/Bubble Descriptors" makes this a large ongoing project.

Monthly Backups... these items will remain here as a checklist for admin monthly progress.
An important excercise for any website or even private family tree. Showing it here for a reminder!


How Will All This Help Users?
Scheduling the time for various efforts here is the attempt mechanism to ensure well rounded results.
Automatization and seperation have freed even more resources to meet swifter publication goals.

The folder work is the basis of the sorting of census records into useful and searchable methods.
In finding census documents, the more known information-the better! (Year/State/County)

Linking the descriptors to CD purchase pages will be made to open in a seperate window.
This is helpful users who need to purchase multiple CD's of various areas.

By posting images of "The Founding Documents", users can then read what is actually written.
In todays political climate, these documents and meanings are becoming harder to present.

Improving The Website...

Sometimes, it may take days and days just to make a very small item work properly on the web.
With each improvement comes much "Behind the scenes" work and a real sense of accomplishment.
So this is the where even minor adjustments get to shine in the spotlight for their 15 minutes of fame!

There are over 25,000 census folders, so this will be an ongoing project.

Follow the links to find the year, state and county desired.
These are photographic images of each individual original census page.



Holiday Family Tree Access (Link is also in the header and drop-down box)
A fun new idea for sharing family tree knowledge with other family members!

Specifically timed for the holidays that are traditionally spent with other family members.
This way, elders can share to young about earlier generations so they're not easily forgotten!



As ideas and knowledge grow, so will the site.
