The "Down-Low" on "What's Up"!!                                               2016 05 01
Getting Organized...
                                                                      Published Monthly

Becoming Clearer...

The goals of any endeavor once defined are what excite people.
Transforming that dream into reality can be fun at times, enlightening at others.
Working towards that dream has given new respect towards fellow websites as each hurdle is passed.

What Exactly Are These "Hurdles"?
For the most part, it's time vs. ideas, with several technical stages occuring sporatically.
The "idea" is to have a complete family tree within a usable website...NOW. Well, that's a bit much.

So the first/major hurdle becomes defined as something more of a time allocation problem.
The plan seems to be evolving towards that of a systematic advancement of the tree as a unit.

Meaning, to have as many family tree members added to the tree first, then additional features later.
The core set of data values (Birth and Death Dates/Places, Spouses, Children) are basic to all trees.
Later, additional information can be added as updates continue and new information emerges.

The difficulty is in the anticipation and waiting for the completion of the tree.
A preliminary estimate is that it should take approximately 50,000 to 60,000 members.

It's not that the website portion isn't considered important, but it is secondary to the tree function.
Most users want to see standard tree data, while site users are more interested in bio's or how to's.

How Is The Problem Mastered?

The basic answer is "Time".
On a daily basis, new names and data are added to the tree.
Eventually, enough to be considered "usable" will be attained, and the next phase started.

Presently, the approach is by adding mother-to-mother parental lines as discussed.
This seems to be working rather well presently, and will continue for some time.
Their children and spouses will be added when additional lines become rarer.

What's The Next Step?
The truth is, that this step is such an important and long-term step, that it'll be here a while.
Daily advancements in tree members and their data will be the forefront of the workload.

As always, suggestions will be taken seriously whenever made.
The goal is to be the best family tree site available for Leazott/Lizotte.

This Months Lesson: Organizing Your Thoughts

The L-Pages...

L-Page characters are chosen in connection with the others being added to the family tree.
This way, we see how family relationships grew, and the roles they played within their families.
As a bonus, the family tree flow-chart grows monthly without having any gaps or "orphan pages".

This months subject: Louis Lizotte 1793-1877.
Follow along every month for new stories, and be sure to add the subjects to your tree!

Newest Pages...

New page ideas are posted here whenever they're inserted.
Suggest a topic if you like!

"Projects" is a new page added to the Census CD's tab showing more ways to use the CD's!
In the future there will be pictures added to the descriptions for visualizing them as well!
For now, it's a way of helping you get more uses from the CD purchases you make!
Definitely worth a look!

"Searching" is another new page under the Census CD Tab/Section.
There seems to be a need for some initial instructions on how to use the CD's.
It explains the basic differences between a database search and a search for documents.
Worth the two minutes of reading so you understand!

"Research"
is a complete section of its own, and presently has several exciting new pages emerging.
These topics are related to any family tree, and should be of use while researching your ancestry.
They are investigation spin-offs, ongoing and under construction, but noteworthy of mention.
Tombstone Abbreviations, Tombstone Symbols, Statue Meanings

Improving The Website...

Sometimes, it may take days and days just to make a very small item work properly on the web.
With each improvement comes much "Behind the scenes" work and a real sense of accomplishment.
So this is the where even minor adjustments get to shine in the spotlight for their 15 minutes of fame!

Census File Pages...

The census file pages are re-designed. Welcome changes for the tens of thousands to choose from!
This table layout gives the fastest reference to the year/state/county enumeration census files.
Click on the design link above for an example of how they are being done (1830 is shown).

The census data files for 1830 have been sorted and added to the availability list.

As ideas and knowledge grow, so will the site.
